Gas Leak
Our school had an evacuation today!! It was because there was apparently a gas leak near our school.
660 News (http://www.660news.com/news/local/article/287197--northwest-schools-evacuated-due-to-gas-leak) says:
More then 1400 students are safe and uninjured after being evacuated from three northwest schools, late Tuesday morning.
Fire crews were called to an area near Queen Elizabeth Elementary, Junior and Senior high schools around 11:30 a.m. after receiving a call about a possible gas leak.
Elementary students were taken to Hillhurst community centre, while Junior High and High School students were taken to Crescent Heights High School.
Fire officials say someone digging in the area of 5th Avenue and 18th Street NW struck a 3-inch natural gas line.
There were no injures and the Calgary Fire Department's Brian Brian McAsey tells 660News it's not believed students were ever in any dancer, and the evacuation was simply done as a precaution. Which is totally accurate, except for the fact that the Junior High and High School people were actually also taken to the community centre (and I should know, because I was one of them!).

Isn't it cool that we were on the news? :)
