Hi there! I love polka dots, jelly, and Greek mythology. And I would like to add that A Midsummer's Night Dream is the best play ever written. That is all.

The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins

In school we're reading The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien for our novel study, and it's an immensely boring book, but this song probably makes up for it.
Note: Bilbo is the main character of The Hobbit, but you probably won't understand much of this song unless you get an idea of what the book is about.
As the description for this video reads, "Enjoy it... Or panic!"

October 31

I failed. I totally forgot about this on the actual day it happened, which was really pathetic on my part, and since it's been over two weeks, you probably already know of this already, but:
On Oct. 31, 2011:
  1. I celebrated an amazing awesome fun Halloween.
  2. The world's population officially increased to seven billion people.
Coo-ool!

Marie Curie

Today is Marie Curie's 144th birthday!
She is famously know for her research on radioactivity with her husband, Pierre Curie.
She was born as Maria Salomea SkÅ‚odowska on November 7 (today), 1867 in Warsaw, Poland. She died on July 4, 1934 in Haute-Savoie, France due to, ironically, too much exposure to radiation.

Gas Leak

Our school had an evacuation today!! It was because there was apparently a gas leak near our school.
660 News (http://www.660news.com/news/local/article/287197--northwest-schools-evacuated-due-to-gas-leak) says:
More then 1400 students are safe and uninjured after being evacuated from three northwest schools, late Tuesday morning.
Fire crews were called to an area near Queen Elizabeth Elementary, Junior and Senior high schools around 11:30 a.m. after receiving a call about a possible gas leak.
Elementary students were taken to Hillhurst community centre, while Junior High and High School students were taken to Crescent Heights High School.
Fire officials say someone digging in the area of 5th Avenue and 18th Street NW struck a 3-inch natural gas line.
There were no injures and the Calgary Fire Department's Brian Brian McAsey tells 660News it's not believed students were ever in any dancer, and the evacuation was simply done as a precaution.
Which is totally accurate, except for the fact that the Junior High and High School people were actually also taken to the community centre (and I should know, because I was one of them!).
You can also view another (different) article here: http://calgary.ctv.ca/servlet/an/local/CTVNews/20111011/CGY_gas_leak_hillhurst_111011/20111011/?hub=CalgaryHome
Isn't it cool that we were on the news? :)

Pancake Creations

Hi there! I was looking for a pancake picture to put in my post 'How to Make Pancakes!' on Google, and I came across a lot of creative pancakes. So here they are!

This one's pretty easy to make.

Mini pancakes!
ROARRR!!!

Looks like my previous profile picture!
TOO COOL!!!

Whoa!
Made by the same guy that did the giraffe one.
Santa!

Cool!
Mickey Mouse pancakes! I have eaten one of these - they're not hard to make.
Not exactly a creative creation, but still cool, right???

AWW!!! I just had to put that in.

National Ice Cream Day/Month

Today is National Ice Cream Day for the USA!!! Apparently it's on every third Sunday of July.
And July is National Ice Cream Month!!!
Yay!
To see fun facts, and more about Ice Cream Day, read this fun article:
http://www.myplainview.com/news/article_c0e5a72e-b00a-11e0-9666-001cc4c002e0.html
And be sure to eat some!
I ate a soy-milk ice cream today. It tasted even better than actual ice cream, in my opinion.
Soy-milk tastes good as pretty much anything. Did you know they also make soy yogurt? It's called soygurt. Or soyogurt. Or yofu. Pretty funky names!

How to Make Pancakes

Since the Calgary Stampede ended today, I've decided to write a post about Cowboy Breakfasts, which are the most popular kind of meal at the Stampede (there are free Cowboy Breakfasts everywhere right now). But I'm writing one on making pancakes first, because that's one of the most important parts. Of course, you could just do it the easy way and buy pancake mix, but if you want it homemade, I got this recipe off http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/good-old-fashioned-pancakes/detail.aspx. It's a recipe for a plain, ordinary pancake: the kind we eat at Stampede.

Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 cups flour

  • 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 tablespoon white sugar

  • 1 1/4 cups milk

  • 1 egg

  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted

  • Directions:
    1. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Make a well in the center and pour in the milk, egg and melted butter; mix until smooth.
    2. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium high heat. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each pancake. Brown on both sides and serve hot.

The good thing is that you don't have to be exact at all with pancakes. So it doesn't really matter if you accidentally pour in a bit too much flour, or use 2 tablespoons of butter instead of 3.
And it doesn't really matter how to cook the thing, as long as the result looks more or less like this.

    YAHOO!

The Calgary Stampede, the 'greatest outdoor show on earth' (while West Edmonton Mall is the 'greatest indoor show on earth'), ends today! Every year it runs from July 8 to July 17.
The Calgary Stampede is a world-famous 'volunteer-supported, not-for-profit community organization that preserves and promotes western heritage and values'. Basically it's a ten-day event with lots of farm animals, pancakes, and cowboy hats.
This year, Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (Catherine Middleton and Prince William) came on July 8 to officially start this year's annual Stampede Parade!
Awesome, huh? To see more about it, go to http://news.calgarystampede.com/News/Latest-News/Release-Details/2011/Stampede-Parade-to-highlight-Royal-Couples-Tour-of-Alberta/default.aspx.

    BOOHOO!

    I have sad news.
Betty Fox, who was the mother of Terry Fox, died today. Sadness. :(
Terry Fox was a Canadian cancer patient who started on a journey running across Canada to raise money for cancer research. He started on the East Coast of Canada, at the shore of St. John's, Newfoundland, and was planning to run all the way to the West Coast. Unfortunately he died in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
However we still celebrate his legacy today, and every year many people and organizations (including our school) hold a Terry Fox Run in his honour. People are still raising a lot of money every day to help fund cancer research.
Go to http://www.thestar.com/living/article/1011084--betty-fox-terry-s-tireless-champion-dies?bn=1 to read about her.
Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terry_Fox to read about Terry Fox.
Go to http://www.terryfox.org/ to see the Terry Fox Foundation website and see events that are being held, as well as news related to Terry Fox.
    Long live Terry Fox!

    National Doughnut Day

Today is NATIONAL DOUGHNUT DAY!!! Unfortunately it's only an official holiday in the US (boohoo!). I envy all of you Americans (well, technically I am too since I live in the continent of America... but you know what I mean). Still, I heard it on a radio station here in Calgary, so we might as well celebrate it too.
There's actually a Wikipedia article on this...
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Doughnut_Day
...Where it says that many US stores offer free doughnuts on this day. LUCKY!!!

    Ultimate Frisbee

Ultimate Frisbee is a game we're playing at recess at school right now. It's pretty fun if most of the players are good at throwing frisbees. Otherwise, it's a waste of time.
    How to play:
    1. Find a playing area
    2. Near the two ends of the area, use two markers (sweaters, rocks, etc.) to mark an invisible line which will be the goal (the frisbee can go anywhere as long as it passes over the invisible line)
    3. Divide into equal teams (well doesn't really have to be equal but that would be fairest in most cases)
    4. Decide which team has to start
    5. That team starts with one of the team members with the frisbee in the center of the playing area and tries to pass to other players on his/her team.
    6. Once you are in possession of the frisbee, you cannot take any steps.
    7. When someone on your team catches the frisbee (without dropping it, of course) behind the invisible line your team wins a point
If someone drops it, it's the other team's frisbee
If someone from the other intercepts the frisbee, it's theirs
Whoever touched the frisbee last before it dropped, the other team gets the frisbee.

Tell me if the instructions are unclear or incorrect. This is how we play it, do you have any variations?

    Directions At The North Pole

Did you know that if you stand at the North Pole, there is only one way to go: South?
If you stand at the very top of the earth, it is not possible to go North, because you are already at the northernmost point of the earth. You can't go East or West either, because since the pole is only a point you'd walk right off earth, and there's no direction in space technically you won't be going anywhere. So the only direction left is Down (a.k.a. South). Once you've stepped (even if it's a milimetre) closer to South you'd be able to go East or West.
Basically whenever you go in a direction you're going in a circle (if you walk in a straight line from the south pole to the north pole, that's half a circle. Then if you go back to the south pole it'll be a full circle. Get it?). It's just that some of the circles are bigger than others. Eg. If you are one meter away from the north pole and go from East to West your circle will be very small since you're only one meter away. By contrast, if you go from East to West on the Equator, your circle will be huge.
Hope that made sense. It helps if you have a picture to look at while you're reading this. The same applies to the South Pole.

    Time Travel!

Did you know that it's possible to see things the way they were in the past? It is - but the only things you can see that way (as far as I know) are stars.
Because some of the stars we see are so far away, even light takes a long time to travel from there to here. Sometimes it takes up to thousands of years! (See this article on how we see if you don't remember - otherwise this post would seem confusing and unrealistic: http://www1.curriculum.edu.au/sciencepd/readings/ligh_how.htm#1) So that means that the stars we see are actually the way they looked a long time ago.
    Amazing, huh?

    Happy (Late) Mothers' Day!

Happy Mothers' Day everyone! Sorry that this post is kind of late.
What did you get for your mothers? My mom insisted on a roast duck, so that's what I got her. Somehow I doubt that roast ducks are common Mothers' Day presents.

    Septimus Heap (Magyck)

A really good book series for kids is the Septimus Heap series by Angie Sage. It's fantasy, and although the titles might sound weird and cheesy (Magyck, Flyte, etc.) it is actually really really good.

An Awesome Day At The Calgary Young Writer's Conference

This Saturday I attended a CBE (short for Calgary Board of Education, which is the school system I go to)-hosted conference called The Calgary Young Writer's Conference.
First all of us listened to a keynote speaker who was Tim Wynne-Jones (the Canadian author of Some Of The Kinder Planets, Rex Zero, The Uninvited, and others)! He is a very funny speaker who had us laughing for about three quarters of his entire presentation. It was very awesome.
After that we had our first sessions with other presenters. Mine was Nicole Luiken (visit her website at http://nicoleluiken.com), author of Frost, Violet Eyes, Dreamfire, and more. She talked to us about how to create a good beginning so your readers will be drawn in from Page One. I think beginnings are very important in a story as a lot of books I gave up reading had a boring beginning! I am creating a new page called StorieWriter that's all about writing and I will include her tips there, but for now you can go to http://www.storiewriter.weebly.com/ to see information about writing.
Then we had a lunch break where we could purchase snacks, eat our lunches that were brought, and browse the Bookstore (which was full of books by the authors that presented).
My second session was with Mar'ce Merrell (visit her websites at http://www.marcemerrell.com/ and http://www.thecakeprincess.blogspot.com/) who taught us how to bring our story characters to life and to know them better.
Both of my presenters were amazing.
If you go to school, check if your school or school system has a similar event. Because it's really worth attending.

    Another Constellation Video

Here is a good constellation video. First it explains a bit about the origin of constellations, and then moves on to more technical stuff (why we see them, etc.), and last reminds you to read up on your Greek mythology so you know why the constellations are named after the characters.

    Raptors

Raptors is a fun tag game to play with lots of people (average elementary class size) and a big area (we use our school soccer field). I'm not sure why it's called Raptors, because it's actually just normal tag, but it's really fun. Unless you don't like running. Here are the rules:
    • There are 3 types of people: 1s, 2s (or Peace), and 3s.
    • 1s = People who chase 2s and try to tag them.
    • 2s = People who run away from 1s and try not to get tagged by them.
    • 3s = People who were 1s and quit OR people who were 2s and quit OR people who weren't playing in the first place.
    • The game starts with one 1. The first 1 is decided at the before the game when all players run towards a visible object reasonably far away (eg. a shed on the edge of a school property). The last player to reach the object is the first 1.
    • The 1 counts to 50 (or another number) with their eyes closed and then after counting starts chasing and tagging 2s. The 2s become 1s and try to tag other 2s. Etc...
    • The game ends the last 2 is caught. That player becomes the new 1 for the next game.

    Origami

Here are three good, simple sites that teach origami with easy instructions.
    • http://en.origami-club.com/ This one has animation instructions as well as big, clear pictures, however, some of the instructions are hard to follow and/or inaccurate. And many of them don't look very realistic..
    • http://www.origami-instructions.com/ Big pictures, although sometimes it's hard to tell which picture the instructions are referring to. Also you can submit your own photo of origami! Or search for something.
    • http://www.origami-fun.com/ Lots of helpful categories, including Origami Paper, Origami Survey, Subscribe, Origami for Kids, Your Origami, Origami Folding Tips, Search, etc.
Please remember to use origami paper or other thin flimsy paper, or the folding will get really hard and messed-up near the end.

    Wild Alberta Expo

Last Saturday our class represented our school in an expo hosted by the AWA (Alberta Widerness Association) at the base of the Calgary Tower. In total we raised about $300 I believe. We also sponsored four of my classmates to race in a Tower Climb. To see the race results go to http://climbforwilderness.ca/results.asp#runners.
The amazing thing is (well two amazing things)
    1) We were the only school that participated
    2) We won the overall prize for the best expo display!!
About a month ago four of us and our teacher plus her daughter went to a Calgary Tower Mural Painting Competition. Below are links to see our Mural.

    Reliable Information About Space

Well, all my posts have reliable and accurate information (at least on the day I published it), but these sites are mostly from NASA and CSA so they should confirm everything.

    The 39 Clues

Did you know that America is believed to be named after the feminine version of Amerigo Vespucci (a Spanish explorer who lived at the same time as Christopher Columbus)? Now you do. I only just found out today after I read part of the book Vespers Rising, which is part of the awesome series The 39 Clues. This series is for kids (but not the really young because it involves killing, injuries, frightening and fighting scenes, etc.) and is fantastic.

    Summary:
The main characters Dan and Amy Cahill find out they are part of a very large and self-conflicting family (Cahills) and embark on a race around the world (with their au pair Nellie Gomez) to find 39 clues (ingredients) that, put together, will make a serum that will make the drinker very powerful.
Tell me if that was confusing. And I know it's a run-on sentence. And has lots of brackets.

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amerigo_Vespucci or http://library.thinkquest.org/4034/vespucci.html for more information on Amerigo Vespucci.
See http://www.the39clues.com/ or http://39clues.wikia.com/wiki/39_Clues_Wiki for more information on the series 39 Clues.

    An... Interesting Constellation Video

Here is a slightly strange video about the constellations. It's pretty accurate (I think) up to the end, where there is a totally fake constellation called "Al Roker", who is some meteorologist guy, so I don't know why that's there. Unfortunately this video is from Google Videos which is going to remove all its videos on April 29 (why?!) so I'm not sure if this video will sitll be viewable after that. And the guy that published this video was called MoldyToaster which is a pretty uncommon name.

    A Button

Behold! The amazing, non-working big red button! (Well, I think it's big, although I have no idea how to control the size.)
I made the button with cooltext.com which has pretty much a million different button, logo, etc. varieties and fonts. Try it! Although you have to sign in with a Gmail, Yahoo, AOL, or OpenId account. This button directs you to the CoolText website.

    A List of Demented Laws

After I posted A Demented Law (right before this one), I researched some other weird and out-dated Canadian laws. Here are some of the stranger ones (they are seperated into Federal, Provincial and City Laws):

    Federal
    • You may not pay for a fifty-cent item with only pennies.
    • Citizens may not publicly remove bandages.
    • It is illegal for clear or non-dark sodas to contain caffeine.
    Alberta Provincial
    • You cannot paint a wooden log.
    BC Provincial
    • It is illegal to kill a sasquatch.
    New Brunswick Provincial
    • Driving on the roads is not allowed.
    Quebec Provincial
    • It's illegal for margarine to be the same colour as butter.
    Fort Qu'Appelle
    • It's illegal for a teen to walk Downtown Main Street with his shoes untied.
    Coburg
    • If you have a water trough in your front yard it must be filled by 5:00 a.m.
    Guelph
    • The city is classified as a no-pee zone.
    Kanata
    • A purple door can get you a fine.
    Oshawa
    • It's illegal to climb trees.

    Ottawa
    • It is illegal to eat ice-cream on Bank Street on a Sunday.
    Toronto
    • You can't drag a dead horse down Yonge St. on a Sunday.
    Uxbridge
    • Residents are not allowed to have an Internet connection faster than 56k.
    Beaconsfield
    • It is considered an offence to have more than two colours of paint on your house.
    • You may not own a log cabin.
    Montreal
    • The Queen Elizabeth Hotel must feed your horse for free when you rent a room.
    • You may not wash your car in the street.
    • You may not park a car in such a way that it is blocking your own driveway.
    • "For Sale" signs are not permitted in the windows of moving vehicles.
    • Cars parked in public places must be locked, and their windows must be down to less than the width of a hand.
    • One's rear license plate may not be protected by glass or plastic.
    • You may not swear in French.
    Outremont
All exterior painting jobs require a permit for colour.

And I'm not sure where this law is from, but you must use your hand to signal while turning, however you must also keep both hands on the handlebars at all times! Oxymoronic!

    A Demented Law

Have you heard on the news (well, this might only be applicable if you listen to Canadian news) that some guy is trying to get in to jail on purpose? There's this demented old law from the 1920's (there was a period of time called the Prohibition Era in Canada when you couldn't drink wine or something - not that I would ever want to drink any in the first place) that states you can't bring wine from BC into Alberta! Weird. And apparently Terry David Mulligan is planning to break that law, and he's planning to inform RCMP in advance, plus have it videotaped! :) You can see the details here:

You know how Google's homepage sometimes features a cool doodle, something like
this? Well, you can view all those doodles at

    369 Shanghai Palace

This is the best restaurant I visited on my trip!!! It's a Chinese restaurant (sort of obvious) in Anaheim (which is where Disneyland is actually located - for some reason I thought it was in LA - anyways...) that is both the best-tasting and authentic Chinese food I've ever eaten. Although I have eaten at other Chinese restaurants with tasty food as well, this didn't make me feel sick like most other restaurants do. And it has such amazing food!!! I ate there two times and still enjoyed it very much. If you ever go to Anaheim, YOU MUST PAY THIS RESTAURANT A VISIT!

    Where We Went

Here are the parks we visited:
    • Legoland!
    • Disneyland
    • Disneyland California Adventure
    • Getty Centre
    • San Diego Zoo
    • Sea World
    • USS Midway Museum
    • La Jolla Cove
Here are the food places we visited:
    • 369 Shanghai Place
    • Yogurtland
    • Cafe Coyote
    • Akbar
    • J-Wok
    • Yunnan Cross-Bridge Garden
Here are the hotels we stayed at:
    • Assorted Best Westerns
    • Assorted Holiday Inns
    • Quality Inn
I'll elaborated on the individual places in seperate posts.

    Yogurtland!

Believe it or not, there actually is a Yogurtland! It is a chain store/restaurant that sells frozen yogurt in so many flavours you can sample that you'll be pretty much full before you buy anything! Most of the stores are in USA (sad) so I visited the stores multiple times. It is so awesome! And the yogurt is very inexpensive so it is a good deal too. I like their Plain Tart Yogurt the best. It's not really plain at all! And also there are toppings (gummy bears, berries, sprinkles, etc.) that you can add to your yogurt. The crushed graham crackers taste amazing with any yogurt flavour. The yogurt is payed by the weight. Visit yogurt-land.com for more details.

    Fattag

Fattag is a cool painting app on the iPod touch. Here is the website-ish/profile. http://fffff.at/fattag/ And here is general info about the publisher. http://fffff.at/
It's sort of like graffiti paint and you can change the colours too.

    Back From California

! I am back form California! Sorry that I did not post on my blog at all during my trip, but there was too much to do and see that I was kept busy the entire time. I will have the pictures and videos I took on here soon! See you!

    Primes and Composites Song Lyrics

Here are the afore-mentioned lyrics of the math song I made!
The first verse starts at "hey soul sister, ain't that mister mister..."

    Primes and composites
    They are the opposites
All the primes have two factors
    One and itself
    That's about it

    Composites are
    A bit more complicated
    They have three to infinite
    Factors

Do you like it? I reccomend using karaoke music of Hey Soul Sister if you want to see along. I wonder if I should add more onto it.

    A Cute Fish Game

If you have scrolled to the very bottom of my blog lately, you will have noticed I have added a new gadget (made by http://abowman.com/) called A Cute Fish Game (although it's not much of a game). The fishies will swim toward your mouse in hope of some food. Drop fish flakes by clicking anywhere on the 'game'. It's so cute! Comment here if you like/dislike it.

    Math song

I created a math song, which is about primes and composites, and is to the tune of Hey Soul Sister. Or at least part of it. I will post the lyrics here soon and you will also be able to see the music video soon too on Youtube. My username is Wektlwik.

    Nutrition Month

March is National Nutrition Month (at least in Canada)! Remember to eat well all the time, though, not just in March! So try cooking your own food (try not to use oil so much - and if you have to, try olive oil) and use organic ingredients. Visit http://meghantelpnerblog.com/ for healthy recipes that are also very yummy. And visit http://www.dietitians.ca/Your-Health/Nutrition-Month.aspx for more info on Nutrition Month with some other good links.

    Yet Another Update

Sorry about all the updates, but if you find a dead/broken link, one that doesn't relate to what I said it would be, etc., please tell me immediately by commenting. Thanks.
PS. Also tell me about mistakes or unaccurate information please.

    Super Perigee Moon!

Did you know that a few days ago (March 19 I think) the moon looked 14% bigger than usual? It's called a Super Perigee Moon, and it was the first one since 20 years or so! The normal moon is apparently called Apogee. Unfortunately the day the moon was coming out it was foggy so I didn't see the moon at all! So sad. It was supposedly going to look red, and it did! Look: http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/imagegallery/image_feature_1900.html
    Isn't that a great picture?
To see more info about the moon, click the link below:
    http://science.nasa.gov/science-news/science-at-nasa/2011/16mar_supermoon/
I wonder when the next one will be.

    NHL

To see the NHL Standings, go to http://www.nhl.com/ice/standings.htm
In the Eastern Conference, the cut-off is between Buffalo (in the playoffs) and Carolina (not in the playoffs).
In the Western Conference, the cut-off line is between Anaheim and Dallas. The Calgary Flames are right behind Dallas! :( They are in 10th place. But the Flames have been doing really well lately. The best I've seen them do since I came here (about 6 years or so), I think.
I can't believe Vancouver is first in the Western Conference (even before Detroit and Chicago and San Jose)! And Philadelphia is first in the Eastern Conference. Whoa!
PS. I'm not obsessed with hockey, so if you find any mistakes in here, please tell me by commenting! And the standings shown here are for today (March 22), so they won't be always accurate.
PPS. NHL stands for National Hockey League, for anyone who doesn't know what it stands for (is that possible?)

    Spring!

Yay! Today is the Spring Equinox! Well, at least for us Canadians. I'm not really sure about other places. Today was unusually warm, too. Although Calgary's weather changes so fast that you can never be sure.

    Travel

I'm going to California (mostly the LA area) during CBE (the school board that I'm in) spring break (March 26 to April 4)! I love traveling, especially to fun, interesting and beautiful places. My aunt and uncle have gone there before and they reccomended some places to visit. I'm looking forward to going there and, using their reccomendations and my own, I came up with the following places to visit:
    • Disneyland (OK, that's a given for any kid)
    • Sea World (My aunt says there's lots of people and is pretty busy)
    • Honda Center (stadium for the NHL team Anaheim Ducks)
    • Walt Disney Concert Hall (Designed by Frank Gehry!)
    • Getty Center (awesome architectual design!)
    • Salk Institute (just to see the architecture)
    • Hearst Castle (Very pretty)
    • Old Town San Diego (sounds strange for some reason)
    • San Diego Beach (the sand is super smooth!)
    • San Diego Downtown
    • Hollywood (well, duh.)
    • Beverly Hills (see above)
    • Universal Studios (I hear they even have rides in there!)
    • LA Downtown Plaza (some cool sculpture thingies and buildings)
    • Biggest fig tree (I'm not sure where it is, but I saw the picture my aunt and uncle took and it was GIGANTIC. I'll post the location on here as soon as I find out)
I'm asking my aunt and uncle if I can post some of the pictures they took here. Some of them are seriously worth a good look! Of course, I'll take many pictures myself and you can tell me what you want me to take pictures of! Just comment on this post. I'll try to meet them if I can and post them on here.

    Update on the Update

Here is a reminder that although I have made Good and Bad labels, they are my opinion and you might think differently than I about the stuff I've listed here. So it's still best to look through the games yourself and decide what you like.

    iCarly

A great TV show that's seriously funny (is that oxymoronic?). Airs on YTV every Friday at 6 pm. Even if you don't have cable, you can still watch Season 1 and 2 on Netflix (you can get a 30-day free trial, but be sure to cancel it on time if you don't want it anymore, because it automaticall starts charging once you pass 30 days). You can also check out their website at:

    Cool Tools For Schools

I know the title sounds kind of lame, but that's what it's called and it's the ultimate presentation map! It includes about a bazillion links to other websites that you can use to create interactive, awesome, great-looking, amazing presentations! Although some of you may think it's boring because it's "educational", but it's actually really fun browsing all the tools. And what's wrong with learning? Nothing. If you're still doubting, just go and check it out yourself! Here's the link:
    http://cooltoolsforschools.wikispaces.com/
Just click on one of the categories on the leftmost side of the webpage.
What are you waiting for? Be sure to reccomend it to your teachers, friends, classmates, etc. But try it yourself first!

    Google Pacman

Google Pacman is absolutely awesome!!! Go to http://www.google.com/pacman/ and play! If you don't know how, you have three options:
    1) Don't play.
    2) Figure it out yourself.
    3) Read the following instructions.
You may have noticed the options are listed in order of how smart the idea is. So, 3) is the smartest option to take. Now for the instructions:
You control PacMan (the yellow circle with a piece missing as its mouth - that's where it eats stuff, of course) with the arrow keys. The dots all along the way are 'food' that increases your points. Avoid the weird colourful ghost/jellyfish stuff as they make you lose lives, but once in a while when you eat a large flashing dot the colourful ghost/jellyfish stuff will turn blue, and that's when you do eat them, because you'll get more points. Once it's game over, click Insert Coin to play again. It's completely free!

Watch this video example of a random guy playing PacMan!
Note that at 0:54 he pauses and waits for the right moment to eat the big dot.

    Update

Just to let you know, there will be two categories of games here: one being a recommended game, and the other being a lame/overly-violent/boring game that you shouldn't play if you don't want to waste your time. How do you know which games are good and which ones are bad? If you read it, you'll find out. But if you're in a hurry to find a good game fast, or just plain lazy, just look at the labels of each post. If it's labeled "Good", then it's good. If it's "Bad", well, you get the point. But even if you are hurried, you should probably still read the game description to see what it's about. It's at the bottom of the post.

    Bloons Tower Defense

A real awesome game involving bloons (balloons) and monkeys (shooters). How to play: Buy monkeys and other weapons to defend the tower from invading bloons. If you lose all your lives (decreases each time a bloon manages to get past all defences), you lose. There are 4 Bloons Tower Defense games. Here they are:
