About Me

- Polka Dott
- Calgary, Alberta, Canada
- Hi there! I love polka dots, jelly, and Greek mythology. And I would like to add that A Midsummer's Night Dream is the best play ever written. That is all.

YAHOO!
The Calgary Stampede, the 'greatest outdoor show on earth' (while West Edmonton Mall is the 'greatest indoor show on earth'), ends today! Every year it runs from July 8 to July 17.
The Calgary Stampede is a world-famous 'volunteer-supported, not-for-profit community organization that preserves and promotes western heritage and values'. Basically it's a ten-day event with lots of farm animals, pancakes, and cowboy hats.
This year, Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (Catherine Middleton and Prince William) came on July 8 to officially start this year's annual Stampede Parade!
Awesome, huh? To see more about it, go to http://news.calgarystampede.com/News/Latest-News/Release-Details/2011/Stampede-Parade-to-highlight-Royal-Couples-Tour-of-Alberta/default.aspx.

Here are some of the sculpture pictures I took! They are all outside the USS Midway Museum.
Sculpture of a head
A WWII Memorial

The other side of the WWII Memorial
A famous sculpture, although I have no idea why
The guy at the front with the microphone is Bob Hope, and the rest is a crowd of cheering people

Yogurtland!
Believe it or not, there actually is a Yogurtland! It is a chain store/restaurant that sells frozen yogurt in so many flavours you can sample that you'll be pretty much full before you buy anything! Most of the stores are in USA (sad) so I visited the stores multiple times. It is so awesome! And the yogurt is very inexpensive so it is a good deal too. I like their Plain Tart Yogurt the best. It's not really plain at all! And also there are toppings (gummy bears, berries, sprinkles, etc.) that you can add to your yogurt. The crushed graham crackers taste amazing with any yogurt flavour. The yogurt is payed by the weight. Visit yogurt-land.com for more details.

Travel
I'm going to California (mostly the LA area) during CBE (the school board that I'm in) spring break (March 26 to April 4)! I love traveling, especially to fun, interesting and beautiful places. My aunt and uncle have gone there before and they reccomended some places to visit. I'm looking forward to going there and, using their reccomendations and my own, I came up with the following places to visit:
- Disneyland (OK, that's a given for any kid)
- Sea World (My aunt says there's lots of people and is pretty busy)
- Honda Center (stadium for the NHL team Anaheim Ducks)
- Walt Disney Concert Hall (Designed by Frank Gehry!)
- Getty Center (awesome architectual design!)
- Salk Institute (just to see the architecture)
- Hearst Castle (Very pretty)
- Old Town San Diego (sounds strange for some reason)
- San Diego Beach (the sand is super smooth!)
- San Diego Downtown
- Hollywood (well, duh.)
- Beverly Hills (see above)
- Universal Studios (I hear they even have rides in there!)
- LA Downtown Plaza (some cool sculpture thingies and buildings)
- Biggest fig tree (I'm not sure where it is, but I saw the picture my aunt and uncle took and it was GIGANTIC. I'll post the location on here as soon as I find out)
